Will Ty Simpson be drafted in first round of NFL Draft on Thursday night?

Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson is in the midst of the longest week of his life. With the NFL Draft upon us, his fate is soon to be revealed on Thursday night in Pittsburgh.

Simpson wrapped up his lone season as the starter in Tuscaloosa and elected to hit the professional ranks, turning down what were some absolutely massive offers in the transfer portal to play for another school and stay in college football.

The only lock of the night is Fernando Mendoza being the No. 1 overall pick to the Las Vegas Raiders, beyond that, things get very interesting in one of the most unknown drafts in some time. Simpson is widely expected to be the second quarterback off the board after Mendoza, but when that could be is anybody’s guess.

Pundits have disagreed throughout the process of where he’s going to end up, with some speculating round two and others venturing to guess Simpson is selected as high as the top half of the first round.

Interestingly, Simpson is attending the draft in person, something that could be an indicator — based on conversations with teams — that he will go on the first night.

There’s a few spots he could land including the Los Angeles Rams at No. 13, the New York Jets at No. 16, the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21, and of course, the possibility of a team trading back up late in the first round to end up drafting Simpson.

It seems like a true toss up of whether or not the Tide gunslinger is going to hear his name called on the first night, but it’s safe to say, all of Bama nation is going to be watching not just on Thursday night, but throughout his career as he tries to make that jump to the next level.

Simpson works as hard as anyone, and whether it’s on night one or night two, he has a great chance at making whichever team does take the swing on him very happy they did.
