Tide baseball, led by star shortstop, stays undefeated with victory over Troy ahead of weekend series

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s baseball team is having a special season with still a week to go until conference play starts in an always brutal SEC gauntlet.

With a 3-1 victory on Wednesday over the Troy Trojans, powered once again by superstar shortstop Justin Lebron, Alabama is off to a 14-0 start and ranked as the No. 23 team in the country. Lebron has hit nine home runs over the first 14 games – all of which have gone for Alabama wins – and is off to a historic start with the chance to have one of the most special baseball seasons Tuscaloosa has seen in some time.

The Tide’s victory over Troy comes ahead of a weekend series at Sewell-Thomas Stadium against Presbyterian, which begins on Friday evening.

After Presbyterian, Alabama will have one more non-conference weekday game next Tuesday against UAB before hitting the road for a weekend series against one of last season’s College World Series finalists, the Texas A&M Aggies, who are currently ranked No. 14 in the nation.

For Tide baseball fans, this has the potential to be a tremendous year for a program that has struggled to reach the heights of some of their SEC counterparts in recent years.

Led by one of the best players in the country and off to a spectacular start, the sky could be the limit for this team.
