WATCH: Alex Golesh applauds Jordan-Hare crowd after first home victory at Auburn

The Alex Golesh era had its first game in the home crib on Saturday night. It was a 43-8 victory over Southern Miss in front of a sold out Jordan-Hare Stadium under the lights.

After the win, Golesh made sure to take his time and show the fanbase love and appreciation for bringing the energy, even against a non-power or conference opponent. The result was an absolutely epic moment between the fanbase and its new head coach ahead of the schedule getting extremely difficult.

Golesh is 2-0, and this week he welcomes to town the man who nearly became Auburn’s head coach instead — former Troy and Tulane HC Jon Sumrall — for a night game that could produce one of the best atmospheres in the sport in Week Three

The Gators will certainly present a much more significant test than Southern Miss did with Auburn being a slight underdog. If Golesh can get his team ready to play, with the kind of crowd that will be behind them, this is absolutely a game the Tigers can and should win.

Golesh’s time on The Plains is just getting started, and clearly the fanbase is ready to rally around him and this team.
