Former ESPN College GameDay commentator (and former Georgia star linebacker) David Pollack had quite the take on the impending SEC Championship matchup while appearing on the DawgNation Daily podcast.
While comparing the two legendary coaches of both teams, Pollack stated that right now, Smart is “clearly” the better coach:

“They’re not gonna get penalties, they’re not gonna turn the football over, they’re not gonna beat themselves. What have we seen from Nick Saban and Alabama the past several years? That discipline that we once saw that was elite of elite has eroded. Penalties are up, turnovers have been more consistent. The one thing I do know, and I know nobody wants to hear it, it’s that Kirby is the better coach right now,” Pollack definitively declared.
While Pollack does make some valid point regarding Alabama’s penalty and turnover issues, Saban does still boast a 4-1 record against Kirby Smart in their five head to head matchups, a record Smart will try to get closer to even on Saturday.
Pollack and Saban made headlines during last year’s blowout national championship as well, with Saban sitting at the table at halftime while Pollack said that Georgia has “taken hold of college football” as Saban glared:
David Pollack likely just guaranteed Alabama will win the 2023 national championship.
Says Georgia has “taken hold of college football” to Nick Saban’s face…
