Saban: The SEC should be represented in the CFP no matter who wins

Every Thursday during this college football season, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been appearing on the Pat McAfee show to talk about his team, the state of college football, the CFP, and whatever else comes up.

With the biggest game of the season upon us, there wasn’t much question what the segment this week would be focused on.

When McAfee asked Saban about the noise surrounding the possibility that if Alabama were to go win the SEC Championship on Saturday there being no representation from the conference in the College Football Playoff, Saban gave a fairly Saban like answer:

“First off, I haven’t payed a lot of attention to it because we have no control over that. We have control over how we play, how we execute, how we prepare our team, and that’s where our focus is,” Saban started.

“I think there should be some representation from this league regardless of who wins this game absolutely. This is one of the best league’s in the country. I think if you’re a one loss team and you’ve played through this league, you’re one of the best four teams in the country because of the league itself and the competition in the league.”

Saban also went on to re-state the fact that not only does he not pay attention to the outside noise, but that he does not want his players to pay attention to it either.

“I want our players to focus on what they have to do to play well and have a chance to be successful in this game and have a chance to win the SEC Championship. That’s the chance they have created for themselves,” Saban finished.
