The Alabama Crimson Tide has formally made an offer to a quarterback in the class of 2027 with a last name that fans will be extremely familiar with.
According to On3 recruiting, Kalen DeBoer and his staff have offered current high school sophomore and Texas native Colton Nussmeier, brother of current LSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.
The elder Nussmeier is seen as one of the best quarterbacks in the country, though Alabama was able to handle him with relative ease both this past season in Baton Rouge as well as the 2023 season in Tuscaloosa when he came in relieving injured eventual Heisman winner Jayden Daniels.
Interestingly, younger brother Colton is actually a much better prospect coming out of high school than Garrett was. Currently rated as the No. 3 quarterback in the country for his class and a top-15 overall prospect regardless of position, Colton is among the 2027 elite.
Garrett on the other hand was relatively unheralded as a recruit in comparison, ranked outside the top-150 players and seen as a fringe top-20 quarterback in the class of 2021.
Having carved out a nice career at LSU however, Garrett has proved firsthand that he was at the very least underrated as a prospect. If Colton is as advertised however, he will also prove to be one of the best in the country.
Colton, a lefty unlike his right-handed brother, put up over 2,000 yards this past season at Flower Mound Marcus, throwing 16 touchdowns and just three interceptions in just his second year of high school football.
Should he choose to play for Alabama, seeing a quarterback named Nussmeier lead the charge against LSU would be wild.
