The Alabama Crimson Tide is going to be off this week, taking a much-needed bye week where hopefully some of the players on the long list of injuries for this team are able to get healthy and get back on the field.
With so many players down, the bye week comes at the perfect time before the biggest game of the season next week in Baton Rouge against the LSU Tigers. While Alabama fans have doubted — and sometimes rightfully so — this coaching staff, perhaps they will have a new level of confidence coming off the week.
In an interesting statistic pointed out by “The Next Round,” throughout Kalen DeBoer’s coaching career, he has been dominant coming out of a bye week – with a record of 8-0 going back to his days at Fresno State. He is 4-0 during his time in Tuscaloosa after the bye.
BYE WEEKS: Both Alabama & LSU are currently sitting on byes this week before their matchup in Death Valley next Saturday.

Notably, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is just 9-6 in his career coming out of the bye, and that record against Alabama teams is even worse at 0-3. Kiffin has never coached against DeBoer and the meeting next weekend in Baton Rouge will be the first the two are pitted against each other, but these numbers do matter.
DeBoer is as good as it gets with an extra week to prepare while Kiffin has not always had the results. It remains to be seen whether this will hold true after the potential College Football Playoff elimination game in Tiger Stadium, but Crimson Tide fans should feel solid about their coaching staff and a potential advantage over Kiffin heading into this one.
