Three college football games to watch on Halloween during light SEC week

(YHN)

It’s another week on the college football calendar, and while it may not be the most exciting slate for the SEC, there’s still a ton you have to pay attention to.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be on a bye this week ahead of their showdown in Baton Rouge against LSU next week. The Auburn Tigers, however, kick off the day at 11:45 a.m. CST with another tough road game against the Ole Miss Rebels where they will try to pull the upset.

Outside the Yellowhammer State, here are three games both inside and outside the SEC you need to pay close attention to, with serious College Football Playoff implications on the line.

No. 17 Florida vs. No. 3 Georgia (in Atlanta): 2:30 p.m. CST

Florida may not be the national title contender it appeared to be during the first month of the season, but the Gators are still a team on the rise under Alabama native Jon Sumrall and more than capable of giving Georgia a fight until the final whistle. With so many teams, including Florida, still in the SEC title race, an upset victory over the Bulldogs would throw a massive wrench into the conference standings.

Georgia, meanwhile, is coming off the bye week following their shocking defeat at home to the Auburn Tigers and will attempt to right the ship and re-establish themselves as the the team to beat in this conference. It’s the marquee game of the day and one which could have a huge ripple effect.

No. 1 Miami @ North Carolina: 6:30 p.m. CST

The Hurricanes are the top team in the country and the only remaining undefeated squad in serious playoff consideration, but they could be tested for the first time in Chapel Hill this week. Though they are two touchdown favorites, this season has proven that no game can be taken for granted. Notably, Miami has its biggest game of the season next week on the road at Notre Dame, and if they get caught looking ahead, the Tar Heels are absolutely capable of handing them a loss.

It has the potential to be a great game if UNC shows up to play, and the Hurricanes could be on upset alert.

No. 2 Ohio State @ USC: 6:30 p.m. CST

This is another one which would be an upset, but the Buckeyes are seemingly down their starting quarterback in Julian Sayin for the remainder of the year. If they were to take two more losses down the stretch, it would likely knock them out of College Football Playoff contention. The Trojans have had an extremely disappointing season and are likely already eliminated, but they are less than a touchdown underdogs hosting Ohio State with a backup quarterback.

If they could pull the upset, it will have a major impact across the rest of the country.
