Fans who are already excited for basketball season in Tuscaloosa just got another big reason to look forward to it.

According to a post from Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne, Coleman Coliseum is going to be getting an updated center court video board as well as a new sound system to improve both fan and player experience in the arena.

The rendering Byrne shared shows a much larger and modern looking screen with a clear and easy to read statistical record under the main video screen, something fans have griped with in the past.

“Work has begun on upgrading the center-hung videoboard and sound system in Coleman Coliseum to elevate the team and fan experience heading into the new season,” Byrne wrote on X. “These investments are also designed with flexibility in mind, allowing them to serve our programs well into the future.”

It has been decades since Coleman has seen a major renovation, and while this may not exactly be a stadium renovation, it is a significant upgrade in the pursuit of modernizing the arena to the modern fan and making flexible adjustments.

The first game this season with the debut of the new board will take place on Tuesday, November 3 against Sam Houston.
