The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers are of course very much in the thick of football season, so it might be hard to believe, but basketball season is right around the corner beginning in early November.

As the teams get set to hit the hardwood, folks love to check out preseason accolades, and the SEC has released its preseason All-Conference teams featuring one player from Alabama and one from Auburn.

Sophomore Amari Allen was named preseason First Team All-SEC after a standout freshman year at Alabama. He joins Florida’s Rueben Chinyelu and Thomas Haugh, Mississippi State’s Josh Hubbard and Vanderbilt’s Tyler Tanner on the team.

As for Auburn, it was veteran guard Tahaad Pettiford featured on the All-SEC third team along with Texas A&M’s PJ Haggerty, Kentucky’s Malachi Moreno, Texas’ David Punch and Arkansas’ Billy Richmond III.

Pettiford, now a junior at Auburn, did not have as strong of a sophomore campaign as he did a dominant run as a freshman, but he returns to The Plains with unfinished business and looking to get the Tigers back to the NCAA Tournament.

Alabama will host Sam Houston on Tuesday, November 3 at 6:30 p.m. CST to open their season, and Auburn will host Southeastern Louisiana the following evening at 7:00 p.m. CST to open their season.
