One of the reasons former Alabama head coach Nick Saban cited for retirement was the desire to spend more time with his family.
In Saban’s first press conference since retirement at the Nick Saban Legacy Award ceremony, while addressing the media and getting ready to take a final question, Saban’s wife Terry told him that it was time to go.

“The Beamers are waiting on you,” the now former first lady of Alabama football said. “The Beamers are waiting to do a family picture,” she said as she pulled Saban away.
Now that Saban is no longer under any media obligation, he can walk away from an interview whenever he sees fit, and there’s no better reason to see fit than keeping his longtime wife happy.
Earlier in the press conference, Saban said that he received guidelines for retirement right after he made the announcement.
“The day after I retired, I got ‘The 12 Commandments of Being Retired’ by my chair on the table. So I got orders from headquarters, man. It didn’t take long,” Saban joked.
No longer is Greg Byrne Nick Saban’s boss, but Miss Terry. But as everyone knows, she always has been.
The event, which was honoring both Frank Beamer and Bobby Bowden, was held in Birmingham on Monday night.
