The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers aren’t just the two best teams in the SEC, they are the two best teams in all of college basketball.

With the two programs set to face off Saturday at Coleman Coliseum, both teams had to go on the road Tuesday night and remain focused on the task at hand.

For the No. 1 ranked Tigers, they were in Nashville taking on the Vanderbilt Commodores and after a close first half were able to pull away late and earn an 80-68 victory.

Denver Jones led the way in scoring with 21 points while Chaney Johnson had 20 and Johni Broome had 17 with seven rebounds.

The Tide on the other hand headed out West to Austin with a game against the Texas Longhorns, but it was all Alabama from the get-go. Shooting 60 percent as a team from the three-point line, the Tide was all over the Longhorns, coming away with a 103-80 triumph.

Jarin Stevenson played one of the best games of his career leading the team with 22 points while Mark Sears and Aden Holloway added 18 each and Labaron Philon had 15.

It will be one of the most electric environments of the season in Coleman Coliseum on Saturday afternoon when these two titans clash, and both now enter the showdown on high notes looking to take control of the SEC standings.
