College football is officially in full swing after an exciting week one exposed some realities, including the demise of Clemson and despite the controversy, LSU potentially being the best team in the entire country.

In week two, things start to heat up in the SEC and around the nation. Alabama will take on Kentucky in a road challenge to begin SEC play while Auburn will play its first game in Jordan-Hare Stadium of the Alex Golesh era. Beyond the Yellowhammer State though, there are several very exciting matchups fans need to have their eyes on.

No. 11 Oklahoma @ Michigan: 11:00 a.m. CST

This will have the attention of the nation in the early slot after the Wolverines’ shocking and controversial Hail Mary victory over Western Michigan last week. Oklahoma has one of the best defenses in all of college football and the Michigan offense looked absolutely putrid in week one, but college football is a funny sport in that this often does not matter, especially with home field advantage.

The Sooners are less than a touchdown favorite as they try to bag a big early season victory and their second straight over the Wolverines after handling them in Norman last season.

No. 18 Tennessee  @ Georgia Tech: 6:00 p.m. CST

The Yellow Jackets, who have ascended under Brent Key to one of the most underrated programs in the nation, are coming off a shocking defeat in the first week of the season at home to Colorado. Josh Heupel’s Volunteers, meanwhile, come into the season a little bit under the radar with a true freshman five-star quarterback in Faizon Brandon.

This will be Brandon’s first real test, and though Tennessee is a double digit favorite, a young quarterback on the road against a motivated team can often be a dangerous thing. How Tennessee performs this week could be a strong indicator of what the rest of their season looks like with matchups against both the Tide and Tigers later on.

No. 1 Ohio State @ No. 4 Texas: 6:30 p.m. CST

This is not just the matchup of the week, it’s one of the best of the year — perhaps the biggest non-conference matchup college football has seen in years. The two sides played a defensive battle in Columbus last season where both Arch Manning and Julian Sayin struggled in a Buckeyes narrow victory, but now, the star power is more so on the offenses than the defenses.

Ultimately, the pressure is on Texas here to earn a signature victory early in the season after entering the year as one of the national championship favorites. It won’t be long before we find out just how for real this Steve Sarkisian coached team actually is.
