Alabama’s season came to an end on Sunday night in Pasadena at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines, who will compete against Washington next Monday night for their first national title since 1997, and Washington’s first since 1991.
Following the Texas and South Florida games, there was widespread skepticism over Alabama’s chance to run the tables, claim the SEC championship, and secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.
That sentiment wasn’t lost on head coach Nick Saban. He described it as, “one of the most amazing seasons in Alabama Football history…”

“Obviously we are very disappointed with the outcome of the game, I don’t think we played great in the first half, but I was really really proud of the way our players played in the second half, we just didn’t finish the last four minutes of the game how we’d like to and we are all very disappointed,” Saban said.
“But one thing that I told them in the locker room after the game, this is one of the most amazing seasons in Alabama Football history in terms of where this team came from, what they were able to accomplish, and what they were able to do,” he continued.

“Winning the SEC Championship, I’m really proud of this group. I just wish that I could have done more as a coach to help them be successful and help them finish. All we can do now is learn from the lessons that sometimes failing brings to us.”
This is the first time in the Nick Saban era that Alabama has gone three consecutive years without a national title. The Crimson Tide will now turn the page to 2024 as college football continues to change and re-shape itself daily.
