With just two weeks left until Alabama’s primary runoff election, Lt. Governor Ainsworth has just thrown his support behind U.S. Rep. Barry Moore for the U.S. Senate seat.
The endorsement doesn’t come as a huge surprise, Ainsworth and Moore (R-Enterprise) served together in the Alabama House from 2014 to 2018 before both launching successful bids for their current offices in the same cycle.
“Barry Moore is the conservative fighter Alabama needs in the United States Senate to carry on Coach Tuberville’s legacy,” Ainsworth said. “Barry stands tall for his Christian faith, and he has consistently given Washington, D.C., a good dose of our conservative Alabama values. A true outsider who fights to lower our taxes, Barry has stood with President Trump to drain the Swamp since day one.”
Moore welcomed the support, saying he and Ainsworth have spent their careers “fighting for Alabama’s conservative values, standing with President Donald J. Trump, and putting Alabama first.”
Moore has kept a growing list of endorsements, including President Trump, Vice President Vance, the Senate Conservatives Fund, the NRA, and Rep. Jim Jordan.
Moore led the initial primary with 39.18% of the vote. Jared Hudson narrowly edged out Attorney General Steve Marshall for the second spot — 25.63% to 24.53% — to earn his place in the June 16th runoff.
