Long-serving State Rep. Joe Faust draws GOP primary opponent in Silverhill native Jennifer Fidler

State Rep. Joe Faust (R-Fairhope) has been a fixture in Baldwin County politics over the past three decades, first serving one the Baldwin County Commission and now in the Alabama House of Representatives.

Last summer, Faust announced he would be seeking a sixth term in the legislature, representing Alabama House District 94, which includes Fairhope, Magnolia Springs, Silverhill and Summerdale in Baldwin County.

However, he will not go unchallenged in the GOP primary this time.

Jennifer Fidler, a native of Silverhill, formally announced her candidacy for that seat upon qualifying with the Alabama Republican Party earlier this month.

“We need someone new to represent the citizens of District 94 and serve as their conservative voice in the legislature,” Fidler said in a statement given to Yellowhammer News. “As a seventh-generation native of this district, I love this community and the people in it. We are one of the fastest-growing counties in Alabama, and we must have leadership that will respond and work for the people to make a difference. We need someone who will continue to work to protect our waterways, understands the value of private property rights, and the importance of our agricultural farmland. I’m excited about the opportunity to stand as a new voice in the legislature to represent the citizens of this district.”

Fidler touted “extensive experience in leadership roles and local government.” Her experience includes work for the City of Eufaula, the City of Fairhope and the Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization.

She holds an undergraduate degree from Auburn University and a master’s degree in education from Troy State in Phenix City.

Republican voters in District 94 will have an opportunity to select their preference to represent the GOP on the November general election ballot in the Republican primary on May 24.
