U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is putting her money where her mouth is and supporting former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) in the District 1 Congressional race.
According to Carl’s campaign, Britt donated the max of $10,000 to help the former congressman in the contest.
“Thank you @SenKatieBritt for your max donation of $10,000 to my congressional campaign,” Carl said. “I am humbled and deeply appreciative of Senator Britt’s support and look forward to working with her in Washington very soon!”
The move is a direct result of the redistricting that occurred after the special session. Britt originally endorsed State Rep. Rhett Marques (R-Enterprise) for the District 1 seat before the map reverted back to the one drawn by the Legislature in 2023. Due to the change, Marques is now running in District 2.
“Happy to support @CarlForAlabama in AL-01 and look forward to working with him when he gets back to Congress!” Britt said on X.
The $10,000 figure for Carl reflects the federal limit of $5,000 per election, primary and general, that a PAC may contribute to a U.S. House candidate.
