The SEC is still considered to be the best conference in college football, at least in this part of the country and fans are more excited than ever to see their teams take the field for the 2026 season.
Despite no national titles over the last three years, the conference is as deep as it’s ever been and as a result, the total number of wins expected by the top teams is fascinating to look at.
On3 revealed over/under totals for each team according to Vegas Odds, and the top of the league sees teams like Texas and Georgia a notch ahead of Alabama.
With the highest totals in the league only at 9.5, it means no team is expected to win more than 10 games in the regular season, which of course is what it takes to make the playoff. Alabama has its lowest total since the early days of the Nick Saban era sitting at 8.5 wins, meaning Vegas thinks it’s at least realistic for a dreadful — by Alabama standards — season of 8-4 and no playoff for the Tide.
As for Auburn, their number of 6.5 is a little bit of a needing to prove it under new head coach Alex Golesh, and if they were to hit the under at 6-6, they would qualify for a bowl game — which they did not do last year.
With that being said, fans want and expect more than that, and a winning record in Golesh’s first year should be seen as a victory. To do that, Auburn would have to hit their over.
It won’t be long until we find out whether or not these expectations can be met, or whether they were fair in the first place.
