U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer believes President Joe Biden’s current energy policies are dangerous for the future of the country.
The Biden administration announced last week itis canceling seven oil and gas leases in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge.
Biden said the move “will help preserve our Arctic lands and wildlife, while honoring the culture, history, and enduring wisdom of Alaska Natives who have lived on these lands since time immemorial.”
Palmer (R-Hoover) discussed the issue Monday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”
“First of all, this president is clueless,” Palmer said. “I’m normally a little more reserved in my comments about people but, in this case, this president is clueless. I think he is a danger for the future of the country, particularly with his energy policies.”
The congressman criticized the president for visiting Alaska on Sept. 11 instead one of the sites of the terrorist attacks 22 years ago.
“This going to Alaska on 9/11 is one of the more insensitive things that he’s done,” Palmer said. “It also literally shows how clueless he is about the dilemma that we find ourselves in, becoming more and more dependent on China and on the Middle East and adversarial nations like Venezuela for something that is important to our economic security and national security, and that’s energy.”
Palmer said it’s unrealistic to believe the U.S. will stop needing fossil fuels anytime soon.
“First of all, we’re not going to completely eliminate hydrocarbons, particularly natural gas,” he said. “Just think about pharmaceuticals. 99% of your pharmaceuticals require natural gas. Everything that people have come in contact with this morning has some connection to hydrocarbons, whether it’s oil, natural gas, or coal.”
He also blasted those on the left who keep pushing a radical environmentalist agenda.
“These are people who are scientifically uneducated,” he said. “They don’t understand physics, they don’t understand how the world works.”
Palmer also doesn’t understand why there hasn’t been more of a focus on nuclear energy from Biden and the Democratic Party.
“China is already building nuclear,” he explained, “France gets about 70% of their energy from nuclear. A lot of these environmentalist I think have another agenda, and it’s really an anti-American agenda. It’s not so much about the environment. And I can assure you … that the Chinese know more about our environmental laws than we do and there’s a lot of misinformation up there, a lot of foreign influence funding some of these groups. People really need to be aware of what’s happening in our country.”
Palmer thinks the GOP needs to gain the majority in both parties and attain the presidency to get America back to energy dominance.
“If we have a majority in the House or Senate but a Democrat in the White House, they’ll veto everything we pass, but if we’ve got a Republican in the White House he’ll sign everything we pass,” he said. “And it is absolutely critical, whether you’re talking about energy or national security or you pick the issue, it’s absolutely critical that we hold the majority in the House, get the majority back in the Senate, and get the White House.”
