Gadsden police officer brings home the bacon—literally

Forget chasing down criminals—on Monday morning, Officer Josh Page of the Gadsden Police Department was hot on the trail of a different kind of suspect: a loose pig. And no, this isn’t code for anything—there was an actual potbellied pig trotting around town.

Dispatched to what can only be described as a very rural kind of emergency, FTO (Field Training Officer) Page responded with calm professionalism, quick thinking, and, thankfully, no need for a mud-wrestling match.

The pig, clearly out for a bit of unsupervised adventure, was gently wrangled and returned to safety.

“Officer Page worked his magic and got our potbellied friend out of harm’s way and back to where they belonged,” the department said in a statement, adding that the photos from the scene were simply too priceless not to share.

The pig was unharmed and, one assumes, full of stories to tell the rest of the barnyard.

While the internet predictably squealed with bacon jokes, Gadsden PD took it all in stride. They made it clear this was no ordinary Monday call—but then again, in law enforcement, no two days are ever quite the same. Some days, it’s traffic stops; others, it’s traffic-stopping pigs.
