Former Auburn quarterback Ashton Daniels named starter for Florida State

(Auburn Tigers)

A former Auburn quarterback is going to be starting for a high level program after entering the transfer portal this past offseason.

As first reported by Pete Nakos of On3, Ashton Daniels has been named the starting quarterback headed into the season for the Florida State Seminoles after he wrapped up last season as the Auburn starter.

Daniels transferred to Auburn after three years at Stanford and was considered a contender for the backup role after Jackson Arnold arrived, but things obviously went off the rails once Hugh Freeze was fired following some brutal play for Arnold.

He played in just four games and threw for 797 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions, adding another 280 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, including over 100 rushing yards in the Iron Bowl defeat against Alabama.

Entering a rather volatile situation in Tallahassee, Daniels is now essentially tasked with saving the job of head coach Mike Norvell after he was nearly fired following another ugly season last year.

Despite things not working out on The Plains for Daniels, Tigers fans will likely still pay close attention to his season at Florida State and what he is able to do with another fresh start.
