U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) believes the latest U.S. Supreme Court ruling is just another reason Congress needs to pass the SAVE America Act.
The court ruled Monday that election officials may count mail-in ballots that arrive after Election Day as long as they were postmarked ahead of time.
President Donald Trump reacted to the ruling on Truth Social shortly after it was announced.
“In light of the tremendous loss in the Supreme Court today concerning Voter’s Rights, and the fact that “people’s” votes are allowed to be counted LONG AFTER an Election is over, it is more important than ever to pass THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,” Trump said.
Moore, who voted for the voter ID law in the U.S. House, called on his colleagues in the upper chamber to take Trump’s advice and pass the legislation.
“@POTUS is right,” Moore said on X. “If the courts won’t require ballots to be counted on Election Day, then Congress must step in. I am calling on the Senate to pass the SAVE America Act now.”
As part of his campaign to become Alabama’s next U.S. Senator, Moore has been calling for the Senate to abolish the filibuster in order to pass Trump’s agenda.
“The U.S. Senate must pass the SAVE America Act,” he said. “80% of Americans support voter ID, and without secure elections, we don’t have a republic. When I get to the Senate, passing this bill will be one of my top priorities.”
