Alfa Insurance® is exploring the possibility of relocating its corporate headquarters to a new site in Montgomery. Negotiations are now underway to purchase an existing commercial complex at Capitol Commerce Center, near I-85 at Exit 11.
The proposed move would consolidate Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation’s operations in a more modern, right-sized facility, reflecting changes in technology and workforce needs.
“Technology and workforce changes have left about half our current space underutilized,” said Alfa and Federation President Jimmy Parnell. “As we considered possible locations for the home office, our priority was to provide an environment that supports innovation, collaboration, and flexibility while displacing the fewest employees possible.”

Company leaders evaluated several potential sites before identifying Capitol Commerce Center as a strong fit for their evolving operational needs. The relocation would mark a strategic move aimed at supporting long-term growth, improving collaboration, and enhancing employee engagement.
Parnell emphasized that the company’s workforce needs are shifting and that Alfa is committed to adapting while remaining a major employer and contributor to the Montgomery community.
“Alfa is proud to be an Alabama-based company with a rich history in Montgomery,” Parnell said. “Our goal is to continue investing in Montgomery by creating jobs and developing civic leaders who give back to the community. We appreciate the County Commission, City Council, and Chamber of Commerce for recognizing the value Alfa brings to the River Region.”
Parnell also expressed gratitude to local leadership, including the Montgomery County Commission and Chairman Doug Singleton, the Montgomery City Council and Mayor Steven Reed, and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, for supporting Alfa’s efforts to remain in the Capital City.
That support became official Tuesday when both the Montgomery County Commission and Montgomery City Council voted to approve incentive packages to retain Alfa’s corporate headquarters in Montgomery. The City Council approved a $4.3 million incentive package, while the County Commission added another $2.8 million to the effort.
Due diligence on the potential acquisition will continue over the coming weeks, with a goal of finalizing the purchase by this summer. If the sale goes through, Alfa anticipates a phased move-in process following necessary renovations.
Founded in 1946 as the Alabama Farm Bureau, Alfa has a long history in downtown Montgomery and has called its current East South Boulevard campus home since 1958. That location has undergone four expansions and the addition of a data center, resulting in a nearly 500,000-square-foot complex. Alfa plans to maintain the existing property while seeking a buyer.
“While our location may be changing, Alfa’s Core 4 Values are not,” Parnell said. “Faith, Family, Community, and Integrity are guiding the process as we seek a new home for our corporate headquarters.”
