Chuck Martin, head football coach of Miami University in Ohio accused head coach Kalen DeBoer of stealing Graham Nicholson, the Alabama Crimson Tide’s new kicker.
Nicholson, who won the Lou Groza Award in 2023 after beating out Will Reichard, entered the transfer portal in the spring following a standout season with the RedHawks and eventually transferred to Alabama.
Martin made headlines this week when he claimed the Crimson Tide “stole” his kicker.
“We didn’t lose him, he’s at Alabama. We know exactly where he’s at… Alabama stole our kicker. They illegally recruited our kicker and stole him from us. Thats a fact.”

“We didn’t lose him, he’s at Alabama, we know exactly where he’s at,” Martin said when asked about replacing the loss of Nicholson. “You media people, it’s all pretend. Like no, Alabama stole our kicker, they illegally recruited our kicker and stole him from us, that’s a fact…We live in this La La world…I don’t know why, everyone knows what’s going on.”

Nicholson successfully made 27 of his 28 field goal attempts in 2023, including a 53-yarder. While he will be a welcome addition to the Crimson Tide, it appears not everyone is happy with his new home.
