Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen is reminding voters planning to cast absentee ballots in the June 16 primary runoff election to pay close attention to upcoming application and ballot return deadlines.

According to Allen’s office, absentee ballot applications submitted by mail must be received by county absentee election managers no later than Tuesday, June 9. Applications delivered in person must be returned by Thursday, June 11.

Completed absentee ballots returned in person must be received by close of business Monday, June 15, the day before the election.

Mailed absentee ballots must arrive by noon on Election Day, June 16.

Allen’s office encouraged voters to send absentee applications and ballots at least two weeks in advance to help avoid possible mail delays.

Alabama voters are also required to present a valid form of photo identification either at their polling location or when requesting an absentee ballot.

Additional absentee voting information, absentee ballot applications, county absentee election manager contact information, and voter ID details are available through AlabamaVotes.gov, according to the Secretary of State’s office.

Allen serves as Alabama’s 54th Secretary of State and is the state’s chief elections official.
