Two former Alabama stars land in first round of NFL Draft on Thursday night

The Alabama Crimson Tide extended what is now a 17-year streak of having at least one player drafted in the first round, going all the way back to 2009.

In what was a little bit of an early surprise, All-American guard Tyler Booker wound up being selected with the No. 12 overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys.

Booker was arguably the best guard in the entire draft, but generally it’s a rarity to see a guard drafted this early, placing the former Tide standout in the mid 20s in most mock drafts.

In a draft that was seen as having a bit of a lack of top-end talent however, the Cowboys simply went with a player who projects to be a great pro.

Later in the evening, former teammates became rivals with the biggest Dallas rival and defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles selecting Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell with the No. 31 overall selection.

Campbell joins a ferocious championship defense and becomes teammates with former Tide stars Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith as well as numerous SEC standouts who made the transition to Philadelphia.

While Jalen Milroe was not selected in the first round, he will have a great chance in going in the second or third round on Friday night.

Regardless, an incredible streak continues as the standard in college football continues to send stars to the next level.
