U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville was asked during a Wednesday press conference call who he is picking to win the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball tournament.
Unsurprisingly, the former Auburn head football coach is pulling for the Tigers, but he did note that they face stiff competition in the Final Four.
“Well, I think most people around our state are looking for Auburn to do well and play well,” Tuberville (R-Auburn) said. “One of the few teams they lost to this past year was Florida, but this is a one-time shot. I just hope Auburn goes, has fun, relaxes, and goes to play for all of it.”
“But I tell you got four good teams in. We beat Houston one time, but again, this is a one-time shot. I think if you looked at it, Duke is really playing well, and Florida had a great comeback. Auburn’s been very consistent, and so has Houston. I think it’s gonna be a very good Final Four.”

The Tigers have played all of the teams that remain in the tournament with varying degrees of success. Auburn lost to Florida at home and Duke on the road, but they beat Houston in a thriller.
With a chance to gain redemption, avenge their losses, and bring the program’s first title back to The Plains, the stakes have never been higher for the Tigers.
