The Auburn Tigers and head coach Steven Pearl have made one last move in the transfer portal to put the team in the best position possible headed into the 2026-27 season.

Announcing the addition of Utah State transfer guard Kolby King, Auburn adds some much needed backcourt depth in a player who has a whole lot of potential to become more at the next level if he can continue to develop.

Helping Utah State to a record of 29-7 and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, King played in every game and averaged 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in just under 20 minutes per game for a talented Aggies team.

“We are excited to welcome Kolby to the Auburn Family,” Pearl said. “Kolby is a tough, versatile, battle-tested guard who has proven he can impact the game in a variety of ways. He can score at multiple levels, create for his teammates, rebound his position and compete on both ends of the floor.

“He brings athleticism, experience and a proven ability to contribute in high-level environments. His production at Utah State this past season, along with his experience contributing to a winning team will fit well with our current rotation of guards. We look forward to welcoming Kolby to campus, getting to work with him, and watching him compete in an Auburn uniform.”

Originally starting at St. John’s, King has also spent time at Tulane and Butler before arriving at Utah State and now will play for his fifth school. He becomes the ninth new player to join the Tigers this offseason as Pearl tries to get things going.

The Tigers begin the 2026-27 season on Oct. 14 with an exhibition game against Florida State in Birmingham.
