The Chairman of the Limestone Democratic Party, Chris Love, quickly reversed course on hosting a radio event with WVNN’s hosts Dale Jackson and Yaffee after criticism from other members of the party.
The Party posted an announcement of the “Radio Runoff” event Friday morning, which was going to take place June 5, 2026 at the party’s headquarters.
“All North Alabama Democratic Candidates from local, state and federal offices are welcome to come ON AIR between 5am to 12 noon,” the announcement said. “Let your voice and your campaigns be heard to all Alabamians. Independents and moderate Republicans need to know what we stand for and what we will fight for. Fair Representation, Affordable Housing, Adequate Healthcare that is nearby and MORE.”
The post immediately drew the ire from other Democrats in the area. Love later admitted he organized the event without consulting other members of the group.
“I invited Dale Jackson to conduct a live broadcast at our headquarters to promote the Grand Opening of our headquarters for the next day,” Love said in a statement. “I made the mistake of not informing the executive committee of this matter. I WAS WRONG. Since I have been Chair since Jan of 2025, there are some things I have done without the committee’s approval such as setting the agenda and guest speakers….I should have consulted the executive committee of this matter FIRST. My goal was not to break protocols or disrespect anyone. I deeply apologize.”
Love posted later in the day that he was officially cancelling the Dale Jackson and Yaffee appearance.
“I want to thank those who express their views opposing the live broadcast because that is how a democracy works and I heard you all loud and clear,” he said. “My goal is to not split the party. For that reason, I have decided to cancel the event and have informed Dale Jackson of my decision. I will remain the Chair till December 1st 2026.”
Dale Jackson responded to the cancelation with disappointment, but said he’s leaving the door open to other local Democrat Party groups to hold a similar type event with the radio station.
“Chris Love and I have had fruitful discussions on radio and TV,” Jackson said in a statement. “My goal was to allow more Democrats access to the best audience in talk radio in Alabama; it’s what makes me ‘Alabama’s Most Trusted Journalist.’ Unfortunately, and predictably, the base of the Democratic Party’s hatred for other opinions knows no bounds, and they think I lose something by not being able to come to their office.”
“My show goes on; I will broadcast that day regardless; by attempting to silence me, they silenced their own candidates,” he added. “They have learned nothing, they know nothing, they will accomplish nothing. In fact, that event led me to offer the same radio opportunity to the Madison County GOP, and that event will still be going on. But because I am now ‘Alabama Most Dangerous Journalist,’ I am heroically leaving the door open for any other Democrat group in the state to take the place of these cowards; all they have to do is reach out, and I will come to them.”
