Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen is reminding residents that Monday, July 27, is the deadline to register to vote ahead of the August 11 Special Primary Election.

“I encourage all eligible Alabamians living in congressional districts 1, 2, 6, or 7 to register to vote or verify their voter registration status on AlabamaVotes.gov ahead of the August 11 Special Primary Election,” Allen said. “I also want to thank Alabama’s dedicated local election officials for their hard work preparing for this election.”

Alabamians can register electronically at sos.alabama.gov, or submit a paper registration form in person or by mail to their local Board of Registrars.

To be eligible to vote in Alabama, a person must be a U.S. citizen, an Alabama resident, and at least 18 years old on or before Election Day. Individuals barred from voting due to a disqualifying felony conviction or ruled “mentally incompetent” by a court are not eligible.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Voters must present a valid photo ID at their polling place or when voting absentee. Cumulative unofficial results will be posted on AlabamaVotes.gov following the election.

Residents can verify which congressional district they live in through the Secretary of State’s VoterView tool, and can view Alabama’s congressional district map through the state’s redistricting hub.
