‘Say no to the mob, say no to Doug Jones’: Rioting becomes issue in Alabama Senate race

Yellowhammer News has obtained a new video advertisement to be released Wednesday by the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in Alabama’s United States Senate race.

U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) is set to face Republican nominee Tommy Tuberville in the November 3 general election, which is just 60 days away.

The new NRSC spot is just under a minute long and centers on the recent violence, looting, arson and vandalism that has occurred in cities such as Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The ad seeks to highlight the serious stakes of Alabama’s Senate race, which could very well determine which party controls the upper chamber.

“Anti-Trump Democrat Doug Jones’ party has been long advocating for violence in the streets while the Republicans have stood with our law enforcement working to protect our communities,” NRSC spokesperson Paige Lindgren said in a statement to Yellowhammer News. “A vote for Jones and a Democrat Majority in the Senate would mean a vote for the mob.”

The spot opens with scenes from news clips of fiery rioting in multiple American cities, before a narrator says, “The Democrats invited it.”

Clips are then shown of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) each speaking.

“Democrats encouraged it,” the narrator comments afterwards.

A clip of former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder subsequently plays, in which he says, “When they go low, we kick them. That’s what this new Democratic Party is about.”

“Democrats bailed them out,” the narrator adds.

The video then outlines that campaign staffers for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which has come under fire for bailing out individuals accused of the worst types of violent crimes.

According to a local TV outlet, this included “a suspect who shot at police, a woman accused of killing a friend, and a twice convicted sex offender.”

As the ad also points out, Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris used her own social media accounts to fundraise for the Minnesota Freedom Fund.

“And if Democrats take the Senate, they’ll answer to it,” a narrator says over imagery of a violent mob.

“Say no to the mob, say no to Doug Jones,” he concludes.

This comes as rioting has become a negative national political issue for Democrats, including the Biden-Harris ticket.

While Jones has been silent publicly on the violence that has been occurring on American streets, Tuberville strongly denounced it months ago.
