U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) announced support this week for several law enforcement-related measures in Congress as part of National Police Week observances.
“Support for law enforcement has long been a bedrock issue for me throughout my time in Congress,” said Rogers. “Every year during National Police Week, we recognize our brave law enforcement officers and the challenges they face every day.”
The measures cover a broad range of public safety priorities. Rogers is backing a resolution memorializing law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, as well as a resolution expressing support for officers more broadly.
On crime, he is supporting the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act of 2025, which targets the surge in coordinated theft operations hitting retailers nationwide, and the Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act of 2025.
Rogers is also backing two measures aimed at improving the accuracy and accessibility of criminal background check data — the NICS Data Reporting Act of 2026 and the Criminal History Access Act of 2026 — which would strengthen the national system used to screen gun purchases and other background checks.
Rounding out the legislation is the Cashless Bail Reporting Act, which would require reporting on the use and outcomes of cashless bail policies across the country.
“Police officers have faced demonization by the far left for years, but with President Trump’s policies and a Republican Congress, they can know they are supported in Washington,” Rogers said. “I’m proud to announce my support for several pieces of pro-police legislation today in recognition of this week and in honor of officers’ tireless efforts to keep our communities safe.”
