Paul Finebaum heaps praise on Alex Golesh, loves what Auburn is doing so far

The Auburn Tigers have impressed Paul Finebaum in the early days of the Alex Golesh era.

Last week, Golesh made some headlines when he revealed he was putting the team in the Opelika Robert Trent Jones Grand National Marriott for fall camp.

Finebaum was asked about Golesh’s hotel move during a recent appearance with “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning.” Not only was he a fan of the unconventional method, but he loves what he has seen from Golesh so far.

“I do like what he’s doing,” Finebaum said of the putting the team in a hotel to lock in for fall camp. “There’s a method to that madness…We do feel like we know what’s going on at Auburn.”

“It’s a significant step up from what we’ve seen in a long time. So, I really, really like the whole concept of it, and I like almost everything I’ve heard from Alex Golesh so far.”

Golesh and the team clearly have a lot of work to do when it comes to getting Auburn back on the right track — competing for SEC titles and national championships — but the start has been impressive. Following multiple eras for the Tigers where discipline went by the wayside, Golesh has established that this is a critical element of a successful program.

Time will tell how quickly the results on the field can actually change, but it would be tough for an Auburn fan not to be very excited about where things look to be headed.
