The Auburn Tigers are locking in for fall camp, and their new head coach is making absolute sure of it.

Alex Golesh spoke to media on Tuesday and revealed that the coaching staff is moving the team to the Marriott hotel and resort at Robert Trent Jones Grand National for the next 13 days before classes begin.

The Opelika hotel is located about 15 minutes from campus. Players will be bussed to and from campus without access to their own personal vehicles.

“Eliminate every single bit of distraction we possibly can, that’s how it was presented to the team and they’re excited about it,” Golesh said of the move. “There are no girlfriends, dogs, cats, whatever guys are into. It’s us for the next 13 days, which is huge for us…We need it. Just us.”

Ultimately, the players will have to buy in and continue to get better in order to elevate this program back to where it belongs, but it seems Golesh has taken some major steps towards changing the culture and elevating the way players and coaches operate.

Time will tell if this unorthodox move from Golesh has any impact on the season, but it’s never been more clear that the new head coach is here to usher in change both on and off the field.
