Madison County DA Rob Broussard endorses Robertson for AG: ‘She has the ability to become one of the most effective attorneys general in the nation’

Madison County District Attorney Rob Broussard announced Friday his endorsement of Katherine Robertson in the June 16 Republican runoff for Alabama Attorney General.

Broussard, who has served as district attorney in Alabama’s 23rd Judicial Circuit since 2009, released a statement saying,  “Over my years as District Attorney for Madison County, I’ve worked alongside three different attorneys general, and one thing has become very clear to me — some people seek the office because they are committed to the mission and willing to take on the difficult work the job demands while others see it merely as a stepping stone to the next position. There is no question in my mind that Katherine Robertson is fully committed to the mission of serving as attorney general.”

“She has dedicated the last ten years of her career to serving in the attorney general’s office. She stayed when the work was hard and difficult, and she remained committed when other opportunities were presented to her. That kind of loyalty and conviction matters. I believe Katherine has the ability to become one of the most effective and influential attorneys general in the nation, and I encourage all Republicans to join me in supporting her on June 16th.”

Robertson led the Republican primary Tuesday with 40.5% of the vote, winning 44 of Alabama’s 67 counties, including all six of the state’s most populous. She faces former Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell in the June 16 runoff.
