Jacksonville State Gamecocks will host conference title game after eight straight victories

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks have been on an absolute tear down the stretch this season, winning eight games in a row and clinching the right to not only play in but also host the Conference USA title game.

The Gamecocks earned a 21-11 victory over Sam Houston State to lock up the hosting status, something that is made even more incredible by the fact that they started the season 0-3 before conference play started and they rattled off the winning streak.

Who Jax State is going to play in the game remains a question as the second seed is currently yet to be determined, but Liberty sits in second place in the conference right now, who the Gamecocks defeated by 10 last month.

Wrapping up year three in charge of the program, head coach Rich Rodriguez has a 26-9 record including 18-2 in conference play, but this is just the second year for the team in Conference USA.

Following an great 2023 season in which the team went 6-2 in conference play, they finished in third and just short of the conference championship.

Now with a chance to host, the conference title game will be played on Friday, Dec. 6 at AmFirst Stadium in Jacksonville.
