The Hazel Green High School girls basketball program made history last week with a sixth-straight AHSAA state championship.
The Lady Trojans are the first team, boys or girls, to capture six consecutive state titles.
Head coach Tim Miller credited the players and their parents for the program’s success.
“It’s a tribute to the girls over the years and the parents over the years,” Miller told Yellowhammer News.
He also touched on other factors that have played roles in the team’s consistent success over the past few years.
“The players know what the expectations are,” Miller said. “We have an expectation and a culture.
“We’ve played a schedule that challenges them.”
Miller said he was appreciative of the title and the season calling it a “nice run and a nice ride.”
The schedule for next years Lady Trojans, according to Miller, will involve traveling around the country playing against some of the nation’s best high school teams.
The Lady Trojans finished the season with a record of 36-1. They also set a state record with 87 consecutive wins.
