Former Alabama Crimson Tide star cornerback and Detroit Lions first round selection Terrion Arnold was arrested Wednesday in Tampa, Florida in connection with his alleged involvement in an armed robbery and kidnapping back in February.

Arnold and six others were arrested and are accused of being involved in a targeted armed robbery, which took place shortly after midnight on February 4. Three men were allegedly pistol-whipped, held at gunpoint and robbed.

According to Tampa police, Arnold is accused of being the primary conspirator and “coordinating and directing the codefendants” to lure the three victims to an apartment where the assault occurred, a release from the state attorney’s office stated.

Turning himself in and being taken into custody at Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County this week, Arnold is facing some very serious charges, including four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. In the state of Florida, this carries a potential maximum sentence of life in prison.

An article from ESPN relayed the findings from the police investigation which revealed that the entire incident began after personal property belonging to Arnold and others was stolen February 1 from an Airbnb in Largo, Florida. The total property loss reported to police on February 3 totaled more than $250,000.

Police say that Arnold suspected that two of the three victims in the kidnapping case were the perpetrators of the Airbnb robbery, but it was later determined by investigators that they were not involved.

The release from the state attorney’s office revealed that Arnold is accused of “orchestrating the kidnapping and robbery just hours after reporting the missing items to the Largo Police Department,” giving directions and instructions along with another alleged co-conspirator to three others.

Arnold’s representation released a statement denying any involvement from the cornerback after two of the codefendants in the case have pleaded guilty and the other four are being held without bond.

Arnold “categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence,” said Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management. “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.”

“Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication.”
