The way the Alabama Crimson Tide has been playing as of late has garnered the attention of some of the biggest names in the media space.
Barstool Sports founder and noted Michigan alumnus Dave Portnoy has placed a $100,000 wager on the Tide to win the national championship, a bet that would pay out $1.1 million.

Portnoy has long been one to throw down heavy wagers on sports bets, famously – or rather infamously in the Yellowhammer State – placing $1 million on the Michigan Wolverines to defeat Alabama in the Rose Bowl last January, a bet he cashed in on.
In order for Portnoy’s big bet to pay off, the Tide will have to finish the regular season without another loss, facing Oklahoma on the road this week and an Iron Bowl matchup in Tuscaloosa next week.
The Tide could have the inside track to a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff, something they would have to win the SEC Championship next month in Atlanta to secure.
If Alabama does in fact get the job done and claim their 19th national title, Tide fans would certainly be celebrating right alongside Portnoy.
