Alabama’s congressional delegation praised the passage of the Secure America Act on Tuesday after the House approved the nearly $70 billion border security package on a 214-212 vote.

The bill funds U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection through September 2029, locking in resources for the remainder of President Trump’s term. The Senate passed the bill on a 52-47 party-line vote last week.

No Democrats voted for the measure in either chamber. The bill now heads to President Trump’s desk.

The legislation follows a 76-day Department of Homeland Security shutdown earlier this year after congressional Democrats blocked funding for ICE and CBP. Republicans used the budget reconciliation process to bypass a Senate filibuster and secure the funding separately.

U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) called the bill a critical win for border enforcement.

U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) framed the bill as a direct response to years of Democratic efforts to undercut border agencies.

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville) said the legislation ensures Trump’s border agenda moves forward without future obstruction.

The Secure America Act provides roughly $38 billion for ICE operations, $26 billion for CBP, and $5 billion for unforeseen homeland security needs. It also funds border surveillance technology, infrastructure upgrades, and expanded enforcement operations.
