Alabama’s seven House members voted Tuesday for the continuing resolution funding the federal government through December 11, joining U.S. Senators Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who backed the same bill in August.

The delegation voted 9-0 with no absences.

The House passed the measure 370-48 under suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority. 19 Republicans and 29 Democrats opposed it. 14 members did not vote. The Senate cleared it 90-6 in August. The bill now goes to President Donald Trump.

The vote was recorded on H.R. 6500, a measure the Senate amended into the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2027.

Current appropriations lapse September 30.

The bill holds most spending at FY2026 levels through December 11, 2026 while Congress works the FY2027 appropriations process, pushing the next shutdown deadline five weeks past the November 3 midterms.

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), a House Freedom Caucus member and the Republican nominee for Tuberville’s U.S. Senate seat, voted for the package his caucus chairman opposed.

“Alabamians expect us to be good stewards of their hard-earned tax dollars, and that means keeping the government open without giving Washington a blank check,” Moore said.

“This bill protects our service members, Alabama farmers, veterans, small businesses, and our national defense while putting common-sense limits on Washington spending. I’ll always fight to make sure Alabama’s priorities come first.”

Britt, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said the House vote avoided a shutdown but not the underlying problem.
