Byrne rails against ‘sickening and barbaric’ Virginia abortion push; Calls on Doug Jones to give his position on it

Thursday on Huntsville radio’s WVNN, Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Fairhope) spoke out against a proposed law that would allow for late-term abortions on demand in the state of Virginia.

Byrne said such a step lifting restrictions on abortions would put the United States out of step with most of the world.

The possible U.S. Senate Republican hopeful also called on Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook), his likely general election opponent should he run, to offer his views on the Virginia effort and others like it.

“It’s sickening and barbaric,” Byrne said. “You know, the idea you could abort a baby in the course of delivery – I mean, only four or five counties in the world allow abortions at all after 20 weeks. And these people are talking about allowing people to murder babies while they’re being delivered. I mean, I can’t imagine anything worse than that. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. This is pure murder.”

“So, I hope that we’ll all speak out against it,” he continued. “And I hope people around the world will see that and speak out against it so they can see just how isolated they are. And the American people have got to stand up and tell these liberal Democrats when it comes to things like this we’re not going to support people who do this.”

He went on to reference Jones and called on him to speak out.

“Doug Jones is pro-abortion,” Byrne added. “Is he for this? He needs to tell us.”
