A big bundle of joy arrived at Grandview Medical Center on March 4, 2025, when Pamela Mann of Calera, Alabama, gave birth to her daughter, Paris Halo. But this was no ordinary delivery—Paris tipped the scales at an astonishing 13 pounds, 4 ounces, measuring 22 inches long. Rick Karle’s Good News Facebook page shared the exciting news.
The hospital staff was in for a surprise as little Paris set a Grandview Medical Center record for birth weight. Before delivery, a sonogram estimated her weight at 10 pounds, though her doctor suspected she might be closer to 8 pounds. Paris had other plans, making a grand entrance that left everyone in awe.
Born via C-section at 7:21 AM CT, Paris needed some extra care in the NICU due to low blood sugar levels, but her mother, Pamela, was thrilled, tired, and eager to bond with her new baby.
While Paris’ birth weight is remarkable, she is not alone in the ranks of Alabama’s biggest babies. In recent years, two other newborns in the state have weighed in at a whopping 14 pounds—one in Huntsville and another in Mobile. Alabama clearly has a history of welcoming larger-than-life newborns!
