Bevo is back: Iconic Longhorn mascot to return to field after two-game absence

When the Texas Longhorns make the short trip to Arlington to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl and semifinals of the 12-team College Football Playoff, a very special guest will be in attendance with a trip to the National Championship game on the line.

With Texas having played their last two games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta between the SEC Championship against Georgia and the Peach Bowl against Arizona State, the stadium did not allow the iconic Longhorn live mascot Bevo to attend the game for logistical issues within the stadium that prevented him from being on the sidelines.

But according to a post from the official Texas social media accounts, Bevo has been cleared to attend the Cotton Bowl:

The game will be played next Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. CST, and after dominating performances in the first two rounds for the Buckeyes, they are considered to be the heavy favorites.

Perhaps Bevo will be able to provide Texas – the final SEC team remaining in the field – some good luck as they try to pull off the upset and head to their first National Championship since 2009.
