Rep. Jim Barton goes up today with his second TV ad (see his first ad HERE) in the Senate District 35 special election set to take place one week from today. Barton’s ad sticks pretty close to homebase for a Republican candidate — cut government spending, reduce taxes, conservative leadership, etc. — and is probably pretty indicative of what we’ll see from most GOP primary candidates in the upcoming 2014 election cycle.
A lot of armchair quarterbacks around Montgomery feel like the Barton/Hightower/Matranga battle may be headed for a runoff. We will hopefully get more of an indication of where things stand later this week.
Barton’s new ad and the transcript are below. What do you think? Strong ad?

Barton:
“I’m Jim Barton. Now more than ever, our country needs moral, conservative leadership. That’s why I stood with Governor Bentley to cut wasteful spending and to block ObamaCare. That’s why I led to fight on insurance reform, and will lead the fight to protect our second amendment rights. That’s why I’m running for the State Senate.”
