Auburn Tigers superstar golfer Jackson Koivun has officially announced the decision many have expected for weeks now.

Following a career on The Plains, which was as decorated as any player in the history of the program, Koivun is skipping his senior season and turning professional now. Auburn put out a video statement from Koivun on social media where he thanked the program, its fans, and the entire Auburn Family for everything they have meant to him over the last three years.

Auburn has built a golf dynasty on The Plains, winning two of the last three national titles and becoming one of the premier programs in men’s college golf. While there have been a ton of folks who have contributed to make the program what it is today, none have meant more than Jackson Koivun.

Winning the Haskins Award twice as the most outstanding player in the country, Koivun has already started to stake his claim on the PGA Tour in the events he has played on sponsor’s exemptions, often looming right near the top of leaderboards.

He is the most talented golfer in the history of Auburn and has a college resume that would match up against anyone to ever play, but now, it’s time for the next step.

The U.S. Open next week will be Koivun’s final appearance as an amateur, and he will make his debut as a professional later this month at the John Deere Classic.
