A leading pro-life group is throwing its weight behind John Jacobs in the closing days of the House District 37 Republican runoff.
Alabama Citizens for Life (ACL), the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, has endorsed Jacobs ahead of Tuesday’s June 16 primary runoff, according to a release. ACL President Dan Gardner recognized the longtime educator as a “Pro-Life Leader” and urged voters across the district to turn out for him.
“Alabama Citizens For Life, the state affiliate of The National Right to Life Committee urges all voters in AL House District 37 to vote for you on June 16, 2026, primary runoff,” Gardner said.
Jacobs faces retired firefighter Jeff Monroe in the runoff for the open seat being vacated by Rep. Bob Fincher, R-Woodland, who is not seeking reelection after 12 years representing the district.
The seat covers Randolph and Chambers counties and part of Lee County. In the May 19 primary, Monroe led a three-way field with 38% of the vote to Jacobs’ 35%, with neither clearing the majority needed to avoid a runoff. The winner advances to face Democrat Michelle French in November.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Jacobs spent four decades in education, including 31 years as a school administrator and three terms as Superintendent of Randolph County Schools. A cattle rancher and pecan grower, he is running on a platform of limited government, educational excellence, defense of constitutional rights and pro-family traditional conservative values, according to the release.
“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement from Alabama Citizens for Life,” Jacobs said. “As a conservative Christian, husband, father and proud grandfather, standing up for those who are unable to stand for themselves has always been among my most strongly held beliefs. I look forward to continuing that fight when I serve the people of District 37 in the House of Representatives.”
The Republican primary runoff is Tuesday, June 16.
