Auburn moves onto semifinals of SEC Tournament with narrow win over Ole Miss

The Auburn Tigers are moving onto the semifinals of the SEC Tournament after a narrow 62-57 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels on Friday afternoon.

Things were a slog on the offensive side of the ball for the Tigers who had to rely on a big day from Johni Broome and a strong defense in order to hold on. Leading by just seven at halftime on 9 points from Broome and 10 from Denver Jones, things did not get any easier in the second half.

With the game hanging in the balance down the stretch, it was a forced turnover followed up by an And-1 dunk by Chad Baker-Mazara to put the Tigers up by nine with less than two minutes to go:

Overall on the day, Broome had 23 points and 15 rebounds while Jones had 13 and no other Auburn player reached double figures.

The Tigers now await the winner of the Tennessee versus Texas game to find out who they play on Saturday afternoon.
