The Auburn Tigers men’s golf program is headed back to the NCAA national championships for the fifth straight year after qualifying through the Athens regional this past week.

Finishing third and advancing to the national championships in California, along with Georgia, BYU, Louisville and Vanderbilt, the Tigers will get the chance to compete for their second title in three years after winning it all back in 2024.

“What a long week,” Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said in a program release. “The front nine was a disaster every day, just call it what it is, but on the back nine, we played some real good golf. They made some birdies when it mattered and they got the job done.”

Auburn finished with a combined team score of 22-under, and superstar Jackson Koivun did not have his sharpest game in the bag this week, finishing a 6-under after dealing with an illness throughout the tournament.

“I just didn’t have my best stuff this week, but we’re happy to squeak on in there and get to nationals. At the end of the day, that’s the goal,” he said. “Having a ticket booked to [the championships] feels real good.”

The national championships will begin on May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, the same place where Auburn won it all two years ago.

Golf fans on The Plains will be paying very close attention this week as the Tigers try to establish themselves as college golf’s latest dynasty.
