The Auburn Tigers have just landed themselves some size out of the transfer portal.
According to an announcement from the program, Auburn has landed a signature from Santa Clara, center Bukky Oboye, as the first transfer of this offseason. Oboye started almost all the games for a Broncos team that finished 26-9 overall last season and went to the NCAA Tournament.
Most notably, Oboye has two full years of eligibility, making this a move that could help the Tigers beyond just the 2026-27 season.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Bukky Oboye into the Auburn Family,” Steven Pearl said in a release. “He’s one of the most physically gifted prospects you’ll find – an elite runner and leaper with rare size who impacts the game at the rim on both ends of the floor at such a high level.”
As a redshirt sophomore for Santa Clara, Oboye had a team-high 40 blocks while averaging 7.9 points and 4.1 rebounds.
“What stands out even more than his tools is his growth,” Pearl said. “He’s shown improvements every single day, and the more he plays the better he becomes. If Bukky stays on the path he’s been on, he has a chance to be a very special player on the Plains.”
Clearly, an emphasis has been placed on size this offseason, also landing French seven-footer Narcisse Ngoy from the French Elite 2 League.
Adding even one player who stands over seven feet tall would be fascinating, but with two now in the fold, it will be interesting to see the way Pearl deploys them in his second season as Auburn head coach.
